Lillian Harriett Georgina Secord was born in Christchurch on 15 June 1868, the 6th of 6 children of Guy (sometimes Grey) Stephen Secord & Martha Winifred Dunford who married in Christchurch on 2 June 1859.
* Her father (1833-1883) was born in Ontario, Canada and he died of a stroke in Christchurch on 18 Aug 1868, when Lillian was just 2 months old. He was 34 years old
* Her mother Martha Winifred Dunford (1841-1883), was born in Wiltshire, England. She next married William Kemble (1850-1905) in 1874 & had 4 children.
. After Martha died in Christchurch on 25 March 1883, William next married Martha's daughter, (Lillian's sister), Rose Henrietta Mary Secord (1865-1945) in 1884 & had 7 children.

William & Annie Maria Martin had 4 children from 1895, before they married on 6 June 1902. So William and Lilian were probably separated by then and Lillian was either deceased or divorced by 1902 (OR, read below).

William & Anna are buried together in St Joseph's Catholic Cemetery in Darfield, Selwyn

NOTES
It is said that Lillian died in 1917. Her burial place not yet found.
However, when son James Welsh enlisted for war from Hororata in 1915 as Sapper 4/1115 with the NZ Field Engineers, 6th Reinforcements, his next of kin was his sister Jane Beavis in Upper Hutt

And when son Nicholas Welsh left for war in 1918 as Private 73558 with the 38th Reinforcements, D Company, NZEF, his next of kin was his aunty Mrs W. Cumeen of Hororata
* This is a very suspect name. There are no marriages or births in NZ for Cumeen. There was 1 death only. On 5 Feb 1899, an 8 week old William Michael Cumeen died, therefore born Dec 1898, but not under the name of Cumeen, nor of Welsh, nor of Secord. I have my suspicions that he may have been a son of Lillian and that Nicholas's next of kin, aunty Mrs Cumeen in 1917 may have also been Lillian (in hiding).
