wyn The person you are asking about is the brother of my grandfather John Peterson Peter, Robert and John were all sons of Peter Peterson I knew nothing other than his birth record about Robert and didnt even know he was married until yesterday when i found record of his marriage Quite by accident when looking through marriages that had taken place at St Johns Methven. Unfortunately I havent a photograph but thought we may each be able to share any information we may have
John My grandfather the youngest boy had thirteen children of which my father was the oldest The youngest a daughter is still living at Methven and is now 86 as is the oldest girl who is over a 100 They were long livers with three reaching a 100 and still being of sound mind and body


Mary Ann Penny (nee Gibb) was married in St Nicholas. Cathedral Aberdeen babout a hundred metres from where they lived I saw this on a very bleak Aberdeen day NO WONDER THEY CAME TO nz They came to the west coast I guess to the gold fields in what appears to be the next year James Penny lived his life out on the coast Peter Peterson and Mary Ann and family moved to Canterbury where he bought land Roberts birth certificate says they married in Aberdeen but after considerable research it appears to be false Later in life they parted and he spent a lot of time in Tasmania taking John and Peter with him for several years Trust i will hear from you

wHAT a thrill I am in NZ I live in Richmond Nelson Tell me just what you need to know about the Peterson ( originally spelt Petersen) family and i will fill you in on any gaps As i said I knew little about Robert until I happened to chance upon his wedding details There is so much to tell and to find out I do know that Robert and sister Annie were named in Mary Anns will as the beneficieries as i have a copy of that Do you know anything about the number in that family We are lead to believe there was another girl I do wish i had thought to ask more when my father was still alive Keep in touch Amee

A Big Hi back....i am at times in Nelson,so we will catch up some time....i live in South Brisbane Aussie,i know nothing about the Peterson family,just that Robert adopted my dad 1917 in Tauranga he was newly born.....Robert died 22-10-1948...
I was born 7 days before so i never knew him,but my oldest brother that lives in Hokitika remembers him a little.
This is why i,m having so much trouble finding my past my dad being ''adopted''i know that dad was the only child Robert and Ellen had and Ellen was my dads blood grandmother,as her son was a married man that fancied my dads blood mum but could not marry....so this is why we are Peterson's.......so i suppose that makes us adopted cuzzies''i think i like that...please keep in touch......Wyn Peterson
