In the name of God Amen I William Lanchbury of Chadlington in the County of Oxford Yeoman being in indifferent health of body and of sound mind and memory Do for the disposing of such Worldly estate as it hath pleased Almighty God to bless me with make this my last Will and Testament in Manner following First I give and Devise unto my son Hercules Lanchbury during his natural Life my Messuage and Lands which I hold by Lease of Sr [William] Osbaldeston Bart if the said Lease shall so long continue And after his Decease I give and Devise unto Mary his now wife during her widowhood the Bakehouse with the Room over the same the Barne adjoyning to the stable and one half of the Garden, part of the said premisses with Liberty of Ingress Egress way [and?] passage at all times to and from the same through the Backsides belonging [to?] the said premisses, and after the death of my said son and Death or marriage of his said wife I give and Devise my said Messuage and Lands unto Isaiah Lanchbury and John Lanchbury two of the sons of my said son Hercules for all the Remainder of the said Lease which shall be then to come to be Equally divided between them Also I give and Devise unto William Lanchbury one other of the sons of my said son Hercules all that my Messuage or Tenement and Lands which I hold by Lease from William Rollinson Esq and also the? Cropp of Corne that shall be growing thereon at the Time of my death To h[old?] to him his Exec?rs Adm?s and Assignes for all the Remainder of the Terme therein then to come __ the said William Lanchbury paying to my said son Hercules Twenty shillings a year during his Naturall life by Two Equall halfe yearly payments to witt at Michaelmas and LadyDay and Also pay all such sumes of money as shall Appear at my Death to be charged on the said premisses by way of Mortgage Also I give and Devise unto my G[rand]-son John Burden his Exec?rs Adm?s and Assignes my Messuage or Tenement at Ramsden in the said County of Oxford with the Garden and Barne there -unto belonging for all the Remainder of the Terme which I have to [run?] therein he paying such moneys as the same stand as a Security? for ___ I give unto my daughter ffrances Burden my Bedstead which is now in [the?] --------------------- house [William Lanchbury sig for page 2] __________ my Looking Glass, and the ____________________________ give unto my Grandaughter Sarah? Burden _____________________________ after the Death of her mother All the rest of my ________________ bequeath unto my said Grandson William Lanchbury ________________ my Goods Chattles credits ready money and Personall _______________ not hereinbefore mentioned and? funerall? Expenses _________________ and bequeath unto my said son Hercules Lanchbury whom? I? make? __ Appoint sole Executor of this my Last Will and Testament _____________ all former and other Will or Wills by me at any Time heretofore? _______ In Witness whereof I have to this my Last Will and Testament _________ of Two sheets of paper set my Hand and Seale this ninth day of June? ___ Eighth Yeare of the Reign of our Sovereign Lord George the Second by the grace of God of great Britain ffrance and Ireland King Defender of the _____ faith? and in the yeare of our Lord One Thousand Seven Hundred and Thirty [five?] William Lanchbury X his Marke Signed sealed published and Declared by the said William Lanchbury as and for his Last Will and Testament ___ the presence of us who in his presence subscribed our Names as witnesses hereunto Thomas Maj[or?] Abell Issard Tho: Bulley

A Codicill to be annexed to and taken as part of my Last Will and Testament First I hereby Ratify and confirme my Last Will and Testament bearing date the Ninth day of June in the Year of our Lord One Thousand Seven Hundred and Thirty ffive ___ every Article Clause and thing therein Except as follows # # # # # # # # # Whereas I have by my said Will charged the Messuage and Land Devised to my Grandson William Lanchbury with the payment of an Annuity of Twenty shillings a Yeare to my son Hercules Lanchbury during his Life Now I do hereby Revoke the said Annuity [of?] Twenty shillings a Year and give and devise my said Messuage and Lands and Croppe that shall happen to be thereon as in my Will unto my said Grandson William Lanchbury absolutely discharged from the said Annuity In Witness whereof I have hereunto sett my hand & seale this Twenty Third Day of January In the Yeare of our Lord One Thousand Seven Hundred and Thirty Seven Willaim Lanchbury his marke Signed sealed and Declared by the said William Lanchbury as a Codicill to his Last Will and Testament in the presence of us who in his presence subscribed our names as witnesses hereunto Henry Ward John Burden Wm Dolton?
