Thanks for a great page. In regards to the above query: John ALLENDER was b. about 1844 in Bridgnorth, Salop (Shropshire) ENGLAND. His occupation was given as a cutter on his marriage certificate but he later ran a tailor's shop in Sturt St, Ballarat. He was the son of John (a clerk) and Ann COOK from Bridgnorth in Shropshire - the family had lived in the area for generations. John's youngest son Leonard bears the second name Eardington which is the name of a small town about 2 miles from Bridgnorth. BTW, John died on 29.10.1926 Aged 82 at Melbourne Benevolent Asylum, Cheltenham (Mother given as Mary Ann Turner rather than wife – “Nothing known” of any family). Hope this helps and happy to answer any questions about my great-great grandfather. BTW my grandmother Mary 'Queenie' Trewin died at Black Rock (not Blackburn) and lived most of her life in east Brighton. Jennie
