There are a few family trees on Ancestry that have different mothers for Patrick Francis Hall

1 - Elizabeth M. Keely on NSW BMD she married John Hall 1855 Sydney so it's not her but she could be the Aunt?

2 - Eileen Elizabeth Walker I can't find marriage but Eileen is the mothers name on Patricks death certificate - but the information is only what the informant is aware of.

Do you have a copy of Thomas Halls death certificate 1888? it may give you further details regarding his length of time in colony, children, if he is widowed or married. It's possible that Eliza may have died prior to Thomas going to QLD.

1 - Thomas Davies Matthias married Margaret Davies Sept 1848 Newcastle Emlyn Pembrokeshire - Baptist Minister

2 - Thomas Matthias married Margaret Jones Dec 1850 Wrexham Flintshire - Cola Miner (Collier)

both couples had Eliza/Elizabeth b 1849 one in Wrexham Flintshire and one in Newcastle Emlyn Pembrokeshire.

Do you have Thomas Matthias occupation from Eliza's marriage certificate to narrow the search.

I took the least common name 'Belinda' and ran it through WA, Queensland and nsw.bdm between 1884 and 1980 and came up with one death, which is not her but Belinda Lily the daughter of Eliza Hammond.

The above child 'Belinda' was born in Goulburn on 2 April 1884 so that narrows down the births in Goulburn and indicates there was certainly more than one Thomas and Eliza Hall living in Goulburn at that time.

Was Thomas Hall alone when he died in Qld? that is what you really need to find out.

It's daunting!

I don't think Thomas was alone in Queensland when he died. The info on that death registration is too detailed. I mean you are not likely to tell your best mate or your landlady your mother's maiden name. I think if Eliza did leave the country it would have been from Queensland and I don't understand why she would leave Patrick and his brother? unless after father died they went into care. puzzling. Maybe you should check the orphanages being placed in one would be enough reason not to mention the family.
