BARROWMAN family of Cumnock NB Scotland

Journal by wattie58

I have a family photograph believed to have been taken late 1800's or early 1900's. I think it is a Barrowman or Borrowman family.

On the bottom left corner is the photographers mark Andrew Miller Cumnock NB.

Does anyone recognise this photo, or know anything about the photographer or the family in the photo.

Thanks

I've heard of the Barrowman clan most were born in the Barony Parish Lanarkshire. I recall when I was there seeing a lot of references to that family. It was a lot of years ago but I think it's close to Cumnock. There was a Barrowman family in South Australia and lots of them in America.

There are also a number of our family who come from Airth Sterling Scotland. Not being a local I am not sure how close these parishes may have been to each other.
Thomas Barrowman (son of John & Margaret) was born in Barony Glasgow but appears on the 1861 Scotland Census as living in Old Cumnock. He married his second wife Mary there. She was a widow. Her first husband was James Crichton.Therev was a thought that this phot may have been of Thomas's chidlren from his first marriage but the time lines don't fit.
Thomas later died in 1881 still in Cumnock.

Not sure of any connection here but in my family tree have Gladys Mary Barrowman married to Albert Allan Flyger in 1922 in New Zealand

Hi Shihazel, yes Gladys is related she is my husbands grandmother. How is she related to you? I see you have also posted queries regarding James Glyger and his wife Ann. I believe James was born 1757 and died 1798. He and Ann had a child John C1792.

I will contact you via messaging and give you my email address so we can compare notes.
