Copelands of Indiana and North Carolina
I have successfully found out about my grandfather and great grandfather's Copeland family in Montgomery County Kansas. I published my findings in my book "An American Genealogy: The Copeland Family of Montgomery County Kansas."
However, there are some gaps in the ancestral line. The family came from Parke County and Orange County, Indiana. Before that, they came from Orange, Chatham, and Alamance County in North Carolina.
Early censuses do not list all the children's names, so I am missing a chunk. These are children of Loyd Copeland(not Lloyd, as commonly mispelled) (or Lord, as incorrectly transcribed in a Quaker marriage certificate) and his wife Mary Barbara May. If you have these as your ancestors and are descended from those who may have remained in NC when Loyd, Barbara, and the rest of the family moved to Indiana in 1851 - I would love to hear from you!
