Good reading about the convict days.

Journal by six

A series of 12 historical Fiction books by William Stuart Long
It follows convicts from England across the sea to Australia and through their lives and the children in Australia. Great reading, but may have get them from a library as they are hard to come by.

I have recently read "The Secret River " by Kate Grenville which was a really good read and very illuminating about the life a convict and his family both before and after he was convicted.
Fortunatly for me the story mirrored my own convict ancestor. I believe she has also written a companion book about how she went about the research which my "Genelogical friends" seemed to all have loved. I haven't read any of William Stuart Long works so I will have to look them up.
