GORDON Ancestors from Fife, Scotland?

Journal by Prussian

Family lore says my GORDON ancestors came from Fife, Scotland and migrated south into England at the end of the 18th century.

Charles William GORDON (direct ancestor) was born/baptised in Wooler, Northumberland in 1799.

Next sighting is in the 1841 census for Market Weighton, East Riding of Yorkshire.

Descendants are then to be found from 1861 in nearby Kilnwick Percy/Pocklington and a little further afield in Beverley, Bridlington and Langtoft.

More than one generation had the occupation of shepherd.

My grandmother Elizabeth GORDON was born in County Durham at Office Row, Eldon, Bishops Auckland on 22 September 1900.
