julesfol has been a Family Tree Circles member since Mar 2011. is researching the following names: CUGLEY, BULLOCK, ROSSONRICHARDSON and 1 other(s).
Julesfol,
Haven't found much apart from their first fleet transportation records.
There was a William Richardson who was convicted at London Middlesex for felony on 10th December 1784 and sentensed to 7 years transportation, he came to NSW on the Alexander a first fleet vessel.
Interesting is that were 3 other Richardsons convicted in London and were on the same first fleet voyage.
Hardwicke Richardson, 7 years, convicted 25th October 1785, Felony.
John Richardson, 7 years, convicted 7th July 1784, Felony.
Samuel Richardson, 7 years, convicted 15th September 1784, Felony.
Hardwicke was on the Alexander and John & Samuel on the Scarborough.
Wonder if they were related!
Isabella Rosson was convicted for Felony at London Middlesex on 10th January 1787 and received 7 years transportation to NSW, shesailed on the Lady Penrhyn.
Regards
Gerry
Hi Gerry,
Thanks for your reply I have a lot of information about Isabella Rosson, but where did you find the information about William Richardson? I have been looking for about 3 years for information. But it is very limited as it was such a long time ago.
Thanks Julie.
Dear JUlie, I think it's a shame that there is very little information outside of university libraries available to the public about these two.
Isabella was convicted and received 7 years for stealing a waistcoat and William was convicted of armed robbery. They set up the very first school in Sydney. In 1788 the first fleet carried with it 36 children 17 were the children of convicts 17 were the children of marines and 2 were 8yr old drummer boys. You will find it very difficult researching these two Julie. Jan
The Reverend Richard Johnson was the first curate of the colony and I'm sure it was he who appointed William and Isabella. I think it was in his papers I read about William and Isabella. I know Manning Clark included some of Johnson's letters in one of his books. Also the National and NSW State libraries should have Johnson's letters and there are a couple of biographies.
Thanks Jan I will give the NSW state libraries a go I didn't think of them, I have always gone to the national library for information.
I am trying to get the information because Iam writing a novel about them.
Regards Julie.
Hi Julie

Anastasia
Hi Anastasia, thanks for the information about the link I will give it a try, as I need all the information I can get as I am writing a novel about the two hopefully the link has a little more info than I already have.
Thanks again Julie.
Here's a longshot. There was a history teacher by the name of Joan M Kenny she was doing a lot of research about education in 1788 way back in the 80s. She wrote several books (mainly for teachers and students). I believe she was a sister of mercy with the Catholic University in Melbourne. Hell, I don't even know if she's still alive but her books, papers and research would be archived somewhere. If anyone in this country would know about your two she would. You might find her on the net. I have a couple of her teachers resource books but gee they were published back in the 80s
Hi Janilye, You shore have done a lot of searching I really didn't expect all the answers I have received in the last couple of weeks. Thanks so much for your answers.
Regards Julie.
