I need any help I can get! I need genology 101 for idiots

Journal by KayBee007

I know that my dad's last name is Miller his moms is Blevins. My mothers last name is Blair and her mother's last name is Bryan. My mom and I are from Kentucky. My dad well I really don't know her is a dead beat I haven't seen since I was seven. I have always wondered about my family history and recently found out the name for it is geneology.. so that as far as I have gotten in my research except for my grest aunt swearinh to everyone we are realted to Rebecca Bryan (Daniel Boones wife)
But anyways my mom nor anyone else I have found have had a intereset in any talk in my family history, but I have had an itch for it and just now at the age of 20 I finally want to take it on my self to find all the answers I have been searching for. So if there is anyway at all you or someone else could help it would be very much appreciated.
Thank you,
Kayla Miller

Dear Kayla,

Welcome. To begin at the beginning, have a read of all the tips and tricks here for newbies and beginners at the family tree, including free stuff available.

I would suggest you goto Geni.com where you will be asked to register (for free) and begin creating your family tree online. Once you get the hang of it, you can invite any of your relatives who have email addresses so they can add to your tree too.

Below is their detailed privacy policy:-

Your Privacy updated February 4, 2009

Your privacy, and that of your family, is important to Geni.com. You can find our full privacy policy below. The bottom line is that your family network on Geni is designed to be private. Here's how it works:
Tree Privacy

* Only the people in your family tree can log in to your tree.

Profile Privacy

* Only your relatives and your invited friends can see your individual profile.
* You can block individual relatives from viewing your individual profile or messaging you.
* Your friends can see your profile, but they can't see your tree or your family's profiles.
* You can further restrict what information appears on your profile in your account settings.

Search Privacy

* By default, the names of users are publicly searchable, but you can opt out in your account settings. (Your search result includes only your name, profile photo, city, and the person who added you so relatives and friends can find you.)
* When you add deceased people to your tree, their names are publicly searchable by default, but you can change this in your account settings.
* When you add living people to your tree, they remain hidden from public search unless you make them visible.
* Minors under 13 are never searchable by anyone outside your tree.

Email Privacy

* We will not provide any user's personal information to advertisers or third parties. This includes your email address and the email addresses of those you invite.
* We will not spam you or your relatives. Detailed notification settings allow you to control which emails you receive from us.

Cheers,
EDITOR.
