Wairarapa Standard, 18 Nov 1875
The driver of a milk cart at Kaiwara dropped dead to-day. His name was William T. Jones. Mr Jones, in the employment of Mr Hawkins, milkman, who lives at a small dairy farm on the hill a little beyond Kaiwarra, was driving the milk cart down the hill on his way to town, when Mr Hawkins ran after him and called out a message to bring out some articles from town. Jones, still driving, turned round quickly to hear what was said and - from what cause has not been ascertained - fell from the cart to the ground. Mr Hawkins, not thinking much was wrong, came up to his assistance; but to his surprise found that the man was quite dead. There was some blood on the mouth, but the nature of any other injuries that may have been sustained can only b ascertained by medical examination. The body was brought into town and taken to the hospital, from whence it will be removed to the morgue to await the inquest, which will be held at two p.m. to-morrow.
