An elusive man.

Article by LexiAngel

My grandfather was Michael Ramon George Joseph Carey Webb born in Halstock, Dorset in 1928. His mother was Doreen Lucy Udall born in 1906 in Halstock, Dorset. His father was something of a mystery.

One can only come to the conclusion, due to a serious lack of records that Doreen Udall, and the man only known as Tom Webb, who fathered her 5 children, were never married.

Baptismal records for Michael and his sister Judith from 1931 show their father's name as Ramon Carey Webb, unfortunately there are no birth records for a Ramon Carey Webb. Although there are plenty of stories surrounding the man.... one says he was a bigamist, and had another family. One says his name wasn't Thomas, although his grandchildren called him Tom or Pop. No-one seems sure of his year of birth or even where he was born, other than being sure he was older than Doreen.

There don't appear to be any photographs of him, and with the very little information relevant to him being more than sketchy, he has become my biggest brick wall.
