by Summers76Seeking research on 'SCANLON' if anyone has links to this IRISH family name, please help my research and post any details no matter how small the link. If by chance you have any old photographs showing members of the Scanlon family, please do consider posting a copy on site. It may help one of the Scanlon researchers find that important missing link.
My grandmother was called Ellen Agnes Scanlon and she was born in 1885,in Wallsend, and lived in Hebburn on Tyne-North of England.
Siblings that I am aware of include sisters, Siobiner (Dinah) and Sarah Scanlon, they both moved from the North East down to Portsmouth and worked and lived there till they died.
The two brothers Peter and Phelan Scanlon left England for a new life one going to America and the other to Canada.
My g-grandfather was called Phelan born 1863.(born Ireland) Phelan worked in the Shipyards as a riveter. His wife my g-grandmother was called Bridget born 1864(nee Brannon) they married on 14th February 1884 and lived in Hebburn on Tyne
I have recently found a number of family photographs of those listed in my Journals. Maybe your relations were friends of my family members and you may have old photos in albums. If you do please post a message giving details of when the photos were taken. Sincere Thank You to all who can help with information. regards Summer

Message for 'Allycat'special thank you for posting the census info, and the website details, truly I will be visiting both soon. Regards Summer
Cheers Summers76, glad to spread some happiness around. Let us know what you find out.....
(Census data is available 1841-1901 in England, so once you find your grandmother's family, you can go back further.)
And another reminder to everyone to check LDS Family Search
Someone IS researching your ancestors this very minute!
Also try and do Surname Navigator on each and every one of your surnames. You will be amazed just how much internet stuff is out there.

Hi Summers76, we might be cousins. My gt-grandfather,
Thomas Scanlon, b 1835, d 1896, was from Tipperary
Ireland.He married Bridget Holloran,b1843, d 1893,was
from Cork, Ireland. They came to America about 1863 &
settled in New Britain, Ct. Three of their kids were
born in England, the rest ( 5 )were born in New Britain Ct. Somewhere along the Family Tree we must
be related.I have more info that I'll add at a later
time.
Hi Ajax, thanks for posting your family info, we may indeed find out that we are distant cousins.
So many Scanlons left Ireland to seek work, its finding the missing links to our collective family trees.....Looking forward to reading the rest of your Scanlon info. cheers Summers
Dear Summers76, You should be able to access your grandmother's details from the 1891 Census as she would have been 6 years old. The Census will have recorded head of household, names, occupations, ages, address of abode, and any visitors on Census night.
Then you can get someone to do lookups on your behalf from the parish registry records.
All this can be done at Rootschat.com - Free Genealogy. Just join up as a free member, similar to familytreecircles.
Goto the England board - whatever county that Hebburn was in...Census Lookup Requests.
Then share your newly found information back here on familytreecircles with an update.
