Charles MARTIN (b 1846, Lambeth or Hackney, London) married Emma Richardson b 1851. Charles worked as a coal porter on the Thames and appears with the family in the 1901, 1891 & 1881 censuses, living in Lambeth. Charles was know as 'Black Dad' in the family, because he was always covered in coal dust.

I've got census records of all 9 children but can't find any more about any of them, except my grat grandfather, William. Please take a look at these and let me know if you recognise these names - all born in Lambeth:
