Dear Jodie,
Perhaps the key is to start with what you know and work backwards. Search for your grandad's parent's names. His mum's maiden name is also a way of finding a link to the family you seek.

I have seen Census records and sometimes there are multiple similar names. So you need some sort of date or time line. Census records are listed as ...1851..or 1861. So you can clarify your search when you know more.

Your grandad might know his parent's birthdays or even the year they were born or died.

You can use search engines for the surname PARKER and then narrow your serach by year of birth or death.

Get back to me if I can help you at all.

Good luck

We are the Parkers who also originated in Nottingham. The family moved to Manchester where in the 1500's, Thomas Parker, established a pie stand after serving his indentureship. The family thrived and owned the largest "pie stand" in Manchester until the bombing of WWII. They also lived in Russia at the turn of the last century and returned to England. If you are related to us you have a most interesting and colorful background.

When the use of DNA evidence becomes more common It will be very interesting to see who is related to who. You may be surprised to know who all of your cousins are sometime in the future.

I was a Parker. I have no idea of the origin of my Parkers. They ended up in Pontotoc County(1860)then Union County(1870), Mississippi. Enoch and Matilda Parker were my great great grandparents. Henry and Eliza Parker were my great grandparents. Fumbee and Lounora Parker were my grandparents. Have you found any of these names in your search?
