My mother's father once told me that my his grandfather told him that there was another "Bischoff" family in Illinois when his father lived there some time in the late 1800's, and he knew this because when his dad was young, during the summer months when my grandfather was not working for him on their farm, he'd have him walk into town to where the other Bischoff man had his store and have him work for him for the day so that they'd have extra money to make it through for that week till his dad would get paid for that week.
