Looking for descendents of Susan Cecilia De Muth (nee Kenny) of New Zealand

Query by GWhiz

James Hoare Kenny of Timaru, New Zealand, married Elizabeth Curtin and had a number of children. We cannot find yet whether they married in Australia or New Zealand.

James was born in Ireland, we believe, and lived in Australia before moving to Timaru where he was a sheep farmer.

I know the names of three of his children, but do not know the names of the others:
* THOMAS GILBERT KENNY(born around 1866, who married HARRIET CONNOR in January 1892 in Dunedin. They moved to Bondi, Australia, where Thomas opened a butcher shop. They adopted a daughter, Doreen Mavis (nee Davison), around 1917.
* AUSTIN JAMES KENNY, who married MARY CONNOLLY. Austin opened a butcher shop in Paddington, Sydney, which is not far away from Bondi. One of Austin and Mary's children was THOMAS JAMES BEDE KENNY, who won the Victoria Cross for conspicuous bravery in France during World War I.
* SUSAN CECILIA KENNY, who married JOHN DE MUTH in New Zealand in 1892. I know little about this marriage, and only know that Susan published a Death Notice for Thomas Gilbert when he died on 1 April 1919 in Sydney.

We would love to hear from anyone who is a descendant of either Austin James or Susan, to sharetogether the limited information we have so far. We would particularly love to see any photos. :-)

Hello there ...

I have this for you :)

James Hoare Kenny married Elizabeth Curtin in NEW ZEALAND, 1863.

Registration is: 1863/628 ... the groom is listed as "Sup Vol 1" ... I would think this indicates that they haven't yet finished transcribing.

Hope that helps :) ...

Austin James Kenny is a "connected" person to me:
He is the Paternal grandfather of the wife of the half 1st cousin once removed of me.

As to the other children ... I'm not sure there are any others {ie siblings of Thomas, Susan and Austin} ... Elizabeth and James were married as you now know in 1863, Elizabeth was already 30 by then; it might be that there is only 3 children?

Thinking about things logically ... Susan was born in 1871, by which time, Elizabeth was 38, rather old {then} to be pregnant.

I have a question for you ... if you can help me ... How then, does {Sister} Elizabeth Kenny fit into the picture ... I can't find any links in her genealogy that connect to these Kenny's ... ?
Kind regards,

Addendum:

Austin and Elizabeth had SIX children, 3 boys, 3 girls.

Elizabeth, aka Margaret Elizabeth, wasn't NZ born. She was "one of the earliest settlers in the Waikato, and has been in the colony upwards of fifty years."

Cheers.
