I am the granddaughter of Lawrence Philip Dumbleton. My mother was Ruth Haslett Dumbleton who married Lorents Christian Devantier in 1948.
My grandfather married Ira Rachel Grace Patten around 1916. They had three children Douglas Philip, Eileen and Ruth. Douglas had two wives and a child by each. The
eldest child, Diane, was adopted out after her mother, Billy, died. The second child, Bruce, lives somewhere in NZ! Eileen married Cecil Morgan and had two boys, Noel whom I believe lives in Wellington and Kevin who lives in Palmerston North. My mother had two children, myself born in 1949 and my brother Andrew born in 1951, died 1994.
I knew Granny Min very well, we would visit her and she had holidays with us.Also met Uncle Harry, her brother. Also knew Aunty Vi (Violet) and knew Gordon. Also heard stories about Aunty Pearl (?)is this Francis Mary? I have photos of them all.
I never heard any of them speak about Arthur. I remember asking and being fobbed off!I would love to know the Arthur's story. Can anyone help?
Hello Ruth
Sorry it has taken so long to respond to your message. I forwarded your detail on to my mother who was Pearl's grand-daughter and she sends you the following message:
Arthur Roderick Dumbleton who married Mary Phoebe Stewart was my great grandfather. My grandmother was Frances Mary Pauline Anderson (Pearl), one of their two daughters. I too have been looking for information about Arthur Roderick so would be interested to hear from you. My mother was Pearl's daughter, Sophie.
I do know or have heard of most of the people you mentioned in your email. I also have photos and information about Arthur's family - a very interesting one, as was he. I would be more than happy to pass on what I have if you would care to get in touch with me - patchad@optusnet.com.au
At you will guess by my email address I am currently living in Sydney. Look forward to hearing from you. Pat Chadwick (McDowell)
