Welcome millsy48.

The New South Wales death indexes don't tell you much so it's hard to say if this is your Edmund without his age at death. Death certificate would give you more information, or you can obtain a transcript of the death certificate for about half the cost. Edmund and Emily's marriage certificate for 1890 may also include parents names.

DYING MOTHER AND CARELESS
FATHER.

At Brunswick yesterday Edmund Jones, laborer,
was charged with deserting his three children,
who were now being kept by the State.
Mrs. Henrietta Green, mother-in-law of defendant, said her daughter was dying, and defendant had only sent her 35/- in seven months.
Constable M'Kinney testified to having arrested
accused after he had come out of an hotel in East
Brunswick.
Sister Emily Dight said, had it not been for her
finding Jones's wife at the time of the birth of
the last child, and for the help of the Ladies'
Benevolent Society, the woman would have died
then. She had worked up to the very last, and
had never recovered. She was now dying. They
had no food.
Defendant said he had been at Seymour, in

the £11 you earned in New South Wales?
Defendant: Spent it on clothes and things, and

Defendant: No.
An order was made for 5/ for each child.
Defendant: if I want to leave the State-
Mr. Tierney: You will go, to gaol for twelve
months if you do.
