looking for the CUFF family, from Ireland, in Jamaica in the early 19th century

Query by jomugl

I am currently working on a web site on the history of horse racing in Jamaica; I am at the moment trying to find information on Michael CUFF and his son, John CUFF, who owned the property EMMAUS PEN, south-east of Santa Cruz in St Elizabeth; EMMAUS was one of the foremost stud farms in Jamaica in the mid-19th century, and latterly passed to John CUFF's nephew, Michael Cuff MORGAN.
I would particularly like to find out when and why Michael CUFF came to Jamaica, apparently in the late 18th century; he may have had a connection with HOLLAND Estate.
