Hi Roughie,

I'm a Brain family member and have info about the Brain Family from Littledean, Gloucestershire. What are your Brain family connections?

Interesting we almost share the same user name too!

Hi,Roughyedbach
Thomas Alfred Brain was my grandfather, Donald Joshua Brain was my father, I think my grandad was from the Bristol area but I don`t know if he had any siblings, my dad was born in Caerphilly. My maiden name was Brain but I married a Rough, hence my user name roughie, it would be nice to think we may be related, hope this info is of some use, if I can be of any help with dates ec. please get in touch.

best regards
Gillian Rough(Brain)

Hi Roughie,
Sorry for the delay in replying but I have only just found your reply to my post Doh!

Doesn't seem that we are directly related but there is bound to be a connection somewhere that we will unearth at some time.

My name is Angie Brain. The Roughyed comes from the Lancashire term Oldhamer, apparently rough felt hats were worn here in tears gone by, and as my family came to the Lancashire coal fields from the Forest of Dean via South Wales I felt obliged to add the 'Bach', meaning little in welsh!

Keep digging cousin, we will find the link

Regards

Angie :-)
