My family research to date and my future plans

Journal by Gordy100

Wow!!! just had a look at the number of individuals in my tree and I have over 1,300 names in there. I have to say that when I started this hobby, I had no idea that I would get so hooked or that I would make so many friends along the way, not to mention get to know some cousins all over the world.

The furthest back my research goes so far is abt 1650 on one of the lines.

I'm now trying to flesh it out a bit and see where it leads. What I would also love to do is to look at the history of the places where my relatives were living throughout their lives and see how it affected them - whether something caused them to come to the decision to emigrate or if it was just something they decided to do, i.e. the Highland Clearances - did it affect any of my family?

Another project I'm hoping to do at some time in the future is something more of a research tool for others - I'd love to look at all the families that have been mentioned in my tree and follow all the lines to see where they lead. I've discovered in several places that cousins are married, sometimes several generations down the line - possibly without even knowing they were related so I'm hoping that this is true further back in the relevant families too (I'm taking my inspiration from the Royal Families of Europe whose bloodlines are so intertwined - if it's good enough for the Kings, Queens, Dukes and Counts of Europe, then it's good enough for the rest of us, huh?)

Any ideas for good sites that will help me in my future plans would be appreciated.

My next immediate plan is that I'm hoping to post an index of my family tree over the next couple of weeks. I have a site on myheritage.com and all my tree information is on there. If, once I have posted the index, you see a name that you recognise, you can contact me and I'll send you an invite to the site so that you can have a further look. Would certainly be a lot easier if this site had a family tree option, but until then, this is the best I can do.

Thanks to everyone who's taken the time to respond to my posts and send me messages re the names I'm researching and I hope that this plan of mine goes some way to repaying that.

Good luck everyone and happy hunting,

Kay
