Following are transcriptions of original documents listing passengers
of the ship ENCREASE out of Youghal, Ireland to Maryland in 1679.

March 19 - Captain Phillip Poplestone signs over the headrights on
Cornelius Shehane to John Stevens of Dorchester County, Maryland.
Cornelius arrived aboard the ship Encrease of Youghall, County Cork,
and is listed among servants on board as coming out of Ireland.
According to William G. Hills, the ship landed in Talbot County.

Philip Poplestone craves rights to one thousand acres of land from
importacon of 20 persons into this province to inhabitt according to
the following catalogue viz ano 1679:

The persons above specified were imported by me Philip Poplestone and
never made use of the rights for their transportation until assigned
by me unto John Stevens witness my hand this nineteenth day of March
1679. Philip Popleston

I do hereby assigne and make over all my rights and jurist to the
above specified unto John Stevens and his assignes as witness my hand
and seale the 19th March 1679. Philip Popleston

Warrent: then granted unto John Stevens of Dorchester County by the
right honorable Lord Proprietor for and in consideration of the
foregoing rights and assignments from Philip Poplestone for one
thousand acres of land.

(Notes prepared by William G. Hills, 1939 and located by Ron Shawhan
in 1982 at the DAR Headquarters, Washington, D.C. Page 128. These
notes suggest the ship probably came from London. See also reference

March 28 - Captain Phillip Poplestone signs over the headrights on
Thomas Shehawne to William Sharpe of Talbot County. Thomas Shehawne
arrived aboard the ship Encrease of Youghall, County Cork, and is
listed among servants on board as coming out of Ireland.

Know all men by these presents that we William Sharpe of Talbot County
and Phillip Poplestone master of the ship Encrease of Youghall are
holden and firmly bound to the right honorable Charles Lord Baltimore
in the sum of one hundred pounds sterling to be paid to the said
Charles Lord Baltimore the said sum of one hundred pounds or his
certain attorney, executors and administrators or assigns to they
which payment well and truly be made we bind us and either of us our
and either of our heirs executors and administrators and every of us
jointly and severally by himself for all and in the whole firmly by
these presents signed with our hand and sealed with our seals dated
the eight and twentieth day of March one thousand six hudred seventy
nine and in the fourth year of the Dominion of the said Charles Lord
Baltimore over Maryland.

Whereas the persons in the catague(sic) mentioned were lately brought
over by the above bound Phillip Poplestone in the ship above mentioned
and their rights by him assigned to the above bound William Sharpe as
by the said catalogue may appear and whereas upon their humble request
the above named Charles Lord Baltimore hath the day of the date above
written promised a grant to the said William Sharpe by his general
warrant to take up land in the province for the right of the said
several persons now the condition of this obligation is such that if
the said persons mentioned and named in the said catalogue or any or
either of them have not formerly been made use or in order to their
rights nor shall be hereafter made use of to the purpose otherwise
then according to the intent that is herein and hereby declared then
this obligation to be void and of none effect otherwise to remain in
full force and virtue.

Sealed and delivered by the said Wm. Sharpe in the presence of William
Sharpe, Vincent Lowe, Rich Keen, Thos. Greening. Annexed to the above
obligation was this catalogue follow viz and catalogue of all the
servants names which came out of Ireland into Maryland in the ship
Encrease of Youghall Phillip Poplestone master, March 8, 1679.
