Re an Update: Eleanor and Graeme Denis Langan not Langiun

Journal by Mynightowl13

Hi again, Below is a post of almost 12 months ago.
I have found the adoption paper of the below, aka my Aunt Molly, Daphne Alice Stanley, aged 18 months whose adopted name change to Daphne Mary Langan of 22 Alfred Street Footscray Victoria.

Molly was born 4th December 1916 and her nature mother, my grandmother, Elizabeth Mary Stanley nee Whillance, died 20 days later from complications due to the birth.

Molly's father, Charles John Lawrence Stanley, was unable to have her in his care, as he had to earn an income, so join the Australian Army at the age of 40, to be able to keep guardianship of his 3 older boys who were place in the Geelong St Augustine Orphanage for a very short time.

Molly had an older sister May (Mary) Elizabeth Caroline Stanley, where she was place is not known. I am feeling that the Whillance family, Robert Dawson Whillance and wife Ellen Mayne nee Rankin may have step-up and took her in their care.

So Molly had 4 siblings that did not know where she was. A very sad time for all.
But I an still wanting to know if the adopted parents, the Langan family had any other children in that family

Kind Regards, Maxine

On the 24th ult, the death occurred
at Yarraville, of Mrs C. Stanley, eldest daughter of Mr R. Whillance, of
Orbost. Mrs Stanley's illness was of short duration, and was apparently the
result of shock caused by the death of her brother, Mr. Whillance, which
occurred at the Melbourne Sanatorium during October last. A widower and
five children are left to mourn their loss.

When I say both Thomas and Daphne were natural born I mean the birth registration does not indicate otherwise, both give names of mother and father. You need the certificates just to check dates and place of birth.
The baby wasn't mentioned on her mother's obituary just the 5 children. Maybe that's how Violet managed to register her, in her and husband's name. I wonder if Thomas Joseph is also adopted!

This below might help you with relatives

Independent (Footscray, Vic) Sat 15 October 1910
LANGAN—LYNCH.
At St. Joseph's Church, Collingwood, on Tuesday, 4th October,
Mr. Jas. A. Langan was united in the, holy bonds of
matrimony with Miss Violet E. Lynch,
second daughter of Mrs G. L Lynch, of George-street, Fitzroy,
Rev. Father O'Brien officiating. The bride, who was
given away by her brother, Mr. Edward Lynch, was prettily attired
in a cream chiffon messaline silk, tastefully trimmed with silk
lace and sprays of orange blossom, with which was worn a beautifully
embroidered veil and wreath. A lovely shower bouquet completed a
charming toilette. Miss Ethel Lynch as bridesmaid, wore a pretty
dress of white silk crystalline. The hat was of chip straw
wreathed with pink roses and finished with large black bows.
A shower bouquet of red carnations was carried.
Mr John Walsh (Footscray) officiated as best man.
After the ceremony the happy couple held a reception at St. Brigid's
Hall, Fitzroy, and received many congratulations from a large number
of friends, who sat down to breakfast presided over by Mr J. A. Norris,
who in an eloquent speech proposed the toast of "The Bride
and Bridegroom." The bridegroom, in a happy speech suitably responded.
The toast of "The Bridesmaids" was proposed by the bridegroom and responded to by Mr. J. Walsh. The toast of "Bride and Bridegroom's Parents" was proposed by Mr Bishop (Albert Park) and responded by
Mr Edward Lynch and Mr J. Langan.
The bride's travelling dress was of navy blue tailor made costume,
chip straw hat trimmed with roses and ribbon. During
the evening dancing was indulged in and the following contributed
to the musical programme: Mr D. Dale, "Roses";' Mr G. Lewin " The Deathless Army;"' Mr. J: McVeigh "Love me and the world is Mine"; Mr Bishop recited "The Deserter" in grand style and Miss Myrtle Ross, cousin of the bride, danced the Irish jig.
Altogether a very pleasant evening was spent by those present. The bride was
the recipient of many presents..
I would have liked to see Myrtle Ross do the Irish jig, would have been a lot happier than the poetry.

As mention by janilye above James LANGAN and Violet LYNCH were married in 1910 and two births were registered under their names.

Thomas Joseph LANGAN 1916. Registration number 34623.
Daphne Mary LANGAN 1916. Registration number 34628.
Looking at the registration numbers the births where registered very close together.

You mentioned you have the adoption papers for Daphne. I'm still a bit confused with this Graeme Denis LANGAN you mentioned and was wonder if his name appeared on the adoption papers?

I have done a number of searches but unable to locate any details for him.
