I am seeking evidence that the Sarah E. Barnard who was the daughter of Edward Barnard, Jr. who died on 16 Oct 1775 as a soldier in the 2nd Regt., Connecticut Continental Line is the same Sarah E. Barnard placed under the guardianship of her grandfather, Capt. Edward Barnard, Sr., in 1776 and married Ambrose Hotchkiss about 1789 in Windsor or Windsor Locks, CT. Her son Jeremiah Hotchkiss, in a an 1856 sworn statement identified himself as the youngest son of Ambrose Hotchkiss (Hodgkin until about 1812)of Windsor. Both Ambrose and Sarah are buried in the Grove Cemetery in Windsor Locks, CT. There is a discrepancy regarding Sarah's birth year. The grave records cite here as having been 78 years of age at the time of her 6 Aug 1845 death. However, this is not consistent with the guardianship record (Town of Hartford, CT Probate Record 19 Feb 1776, Vol. 22 1774-1778) which shows her being age 6 in the year 1776 when her grandfather assumed guardianship of her and her siblings.
