Hi Again,
David Smith
in the Australia, Marriage Index, 1788-1950.

Name: David Smith
Father's name: Uriah Smith
Spouse Name: Jane Harrison
Spouse's Father's Name: William Thomas Harrison
Marriage Date: 12 Apr 1876
Marriage Place: Saddleworth
Registration Place: Gilbert, South Australia
Page Number: 284
Volume Number: 107.

I found a Tree on Ancestry but I cannot get into it at all. I put in an all search & it came up with Marry Anne Died May 1859 in Laura, South Australia. So could there be a possibility that she be buried there.?

Harry.

Searched the death records for South Australia but unable to locate a death for Mary SMITH in 1859. Death may not have been registered but someone sauced the information from somewhere.

Write or give the Laura Baptist Church a ring. David Smith was one of the early members. Perhaps Mrs. Smith is buried there.
Address: 14 Bristow Street , Laura, SA 5480

Hang on a sec. The Laura Baptist church was opened 18 August 1876
before that services for both Baptist and Methodist were held in the
home of Mr. H. W. A. Walter. However the Laura church would know where the earliest cemeteries were located.
Having said that, the family, from arrival in 1853, lived at Angaston and Tothill's Creek until 1872 when David Smith took up his land (640 acres at £3 per acre) which was part of the Booyoolie Estate, known as Nangway Outstation which David and his sons worked till after Uriah's death on 4 February 1928
So she might be buried at Angaston
Or Tothill Creek

If I were a betting person I would say she is buried here at with the Methodists
A few Smiths are here including Uriah and both wives LAURA Cemetery

btw - Uriah's first wife was also a THORN and his second wife (widow) born a PLEDGE

Hi Harry
Thanks for the information you have found. It appears to be my family, as some of the names, dates and other records I have match with what you have found. I am the youngest great grand daughter of David and Mary Anne Smith (Thorn). The property Nangway is the land that David Smith purchased when he moved to the Mid North of South Australia. This property was my late father's, which I have inherited from him. Uriah and Ada Mary Smith (Pledge) are my fathers parents.
The Laura Baptist Church has a window dedicated to David Smith. Mary Anne Smith passed away before David and his family moved to Laura.
Once again thanks for your help.
