I think I may be the great grand daughter of Violet Esther Snook (b 1899) and William Garland Baxter. Their son Owen William Baxter (d 1964) was my birth mothers father. I am having trouble discovering if they had other children and also WG Baxter appears to have married again to a much younger woman who died in 1945. I am wondering when Violet died, if she remarried, if I have any Baxter relatives living.

I am the daughter of William Garland Baxter. I was born in 1941,named Barbara Margaret Baxter. I believe that there was only one son Owen William Baxter to the marriage of Violet and William. I have a brother Bruce William Baxter who lives in Australia. Can help you with aunts and uncles if you want me to.

thanks bmn, so your brother Bruce's mother was not Violet? He must have been a son of Owen's 2nd wife Elsie Lenore

However, in the Evening Post, 2 June 1945 of Owen's engagement it has .. BAXTER-MAGUREN - Mr and Mrs l. Magueren, Johnsonville, wish to announce the engagement of their eldest daughter, Kathleen Josephine,
to W. O. (Bill), on furlough, eldest son of Mr W. G. Baxter, Auckland (did that refer to sons of Elsie?)
