-- Auckland Star, 19 May 1883 To the Editor: Sir, - two small mistakes occured in the notice which appeared in your issue of the sixteenth inst., re the accident which happened on that date at Mr Roe's sawmill, in this township. The name of the unfortunate man is Fred box, son of Mr Josiah Box, of Otahuhu. It was Dr Edgelow, of this place, who saw the sufferer and immediately decided that there was no resource but to remove the arm between the elbow and wrist. Dr Edgelow, having this decided, sent a message to Dr Scott, asking him to come and administer shloroform to him. BREACHES OF THE CORRUPT PRACTICES ACT - At the Resident magistrate's Court, Papakura, on Monday, before Mr T. Jackson, R.M., two somewhat singular charges of breaches of the Corrupt Practices Act were tried. F. J. Box (Frederick James) was charged with having willfully made a false claim and declaration for the purpose of being enrolled as an elector of Franklin North. The facts in this case are peculiar and are as follows: Box was living at Whangapoua, his father, Josiah Box, also living at Whaganpous. About the end of October last the Boxs, father and son, returned to Auckland and in the beginning of November were living in a house, the property of Box sen., in Alten-road, Auckland. Josiah Box, having acquired some property at Otahuhu, in the district of Franklin North, was induced by Mr W. J. Speight to make a claim for enrolment as an elector of Franklin North ... rest of the story here
