Dominion, 18 Dec 1917 Death Of A Soldier Shortly after 10 o'clock on Saturday morning Corporal Percy Sylvester Hobbs, who for some months past had been in charge of the post office at Papawai Camp, was found dead on the floor of his office with a pen-rifle between his knees and a bullet wound in his forehead. Corporal Hobbs was a native of Australia, 20 years of age and before coming to New Zealand about two years ago was a wireless operator in the Commonwealth Navy. His body was interred in the Featherston Cemetery yesterday.
