Hello ngairedith, my family is from Joseph Ignatius RICHARDS who married Rebecca Smith from Australia. They had Sarah Jane Richards who married Alfred Benjamin COLE...
They are buried in the old cemetery at Dannevirke. Don't know their background. How they came to New Zealand, etc?

I was told that they were Welsh?

Would be nice to swap info, photo's etc...
Thanks.

Cheers and kind regards...:-)

Lyn

PS there is a Jillet/Richards/Whitehouse...reunion happening here in NZ. I live in Porirua and there is a lady in Titahi Bay close to Porirua that I have been in touch with. Interesting!!

Hi lyndawn,
Joseph Ignatius & Rebecca Richards are actually buried in the SETTLERS CEMETERY (also known as the Old Cemetery) in George St, Dannevirke

the OLD GORGE CEMETERY is in Woodville, which is about 27km south of Dannevirke

I will try to 'dig up' some info on their immigration to New Zealand etc if you like ...
