Dorothy Carney

WEST POINT- Dorothy Theresa Carney, 91, of State Route 518, passed away peacefully at 11:07 a.m., Thursday, March 26, 2015 at the Salem Regional Medical Center following a brief illness.

Mrs. Carney was born July 22, 1923 in Trenton, New Jersey, a daughter of the late Joseph and Rose Roslonski.

She last worked as a civilian secretary at Fort Dix and was a member of St. Agatha's Catholic Church.

In addition to her loving husband, Calvin "Cal" Carney, she also leaves behind her daughter, Colleen Ingram of Rogers; her son, Kevin Carney of West Point; her brother, Don Roslonski and of Bricktown, New Jersey; two grandsons; and one great-granddaughter.

She was also preceded in death by her infant daughter, Rose Mary Carney.

Private visitation and funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at the Eells-Leggett-Stauffer Funeral Home with Father Robert Edwards officiating. She was laid to rest Monday morning at the Lisbon Cemetery.

W. Sherrill Milliken

EAST PALESTINE-W. Sherrill Milliken, Jr., 74, of East Main Street, passed away at 4:50 a.m., Sunday, March 29, 2015 at the Covington Community Campus, where he had been a patient for the past six days.

He was born Dec. 22, 1940 in Chattanooga, Tenn., a son of the late W. Sherrill and Lucy McGee Milliken, Sr. He had owned and operated his own store, Milliken Hardware, prior to his retiring.

He is survived by his wife, the former Shirley Hodges; and two sons, W. Sherrill Milliken, III, of East Palestine, and Douglas Milliken, Los Angeles, Calif.; and two granddaughters.

A service will not be observed. His remains will be interred in the cremation niches at Crest Haven Memorial Gardens.

Arrangements were with the Oliver-Linsley Funeral Home.

Ed Lee Parker, 97

WELLSVILLE-Ed Lee Parker, age 97, of Wellsville passed away at East Liverpool City Hospital on Wednesday, March 25, 2015, after a brief illness.

The son of the late Edmond and Edith (Ingram) Parker, he was born in Wilcox, Alabama on May 4, 1917 and had lived in the area most of his life. Mr. Parker was a graduate of the former Irondale High School and was a graduate of Pennsylvania Institute of Barbering in Pittsburgh, Pa. He had been employed at the former Crucible Steel in Midland, Pa. where he last worked as a Laborer, retiring in August 1981.

He was a Veteran serving during W.W. II with the U.S. Army, was a founding member of V.F.W. Post 9285 which later combined with V.F.W. Post 5647. He was a member of Lee's Chapel A.M.E. Church in Wellsville where he had served as Treasurer, Steward and adult Sunday School Teacher.

Mr. Parker was preceded in death by his wife, Willia Mae (Vaughns) Parker, on Oct. 9, 1999, they were married on Jan. 4, 1947.

Survivors include his children, Gwendolyn Webb of Moreno Valley, Calif., James Parker of Columbus, Ohio, Candy Cogdell and her husband, Darryl, of Pittsburgh, Pa. and Ed Linger also of Pittsburgh, Pa.; four grandchildren, Teka Pendelton-Johnson and her husband, Ted, of Columbus, Ohio., Tamika "Nikki" Webb, Garrett Cogdell, Danielle Cogdell and six great-grandchildren. He is also survived by one sister, Naomi Gooch, of Wellsville.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by one brother, Willie, and five sisters, Liza, Rosie, Alice, Merdis, and Odessa.

Services will be held on Friday, April 3, 2015, at the Lee's Chapel A.M.E. Church in Wellsville at 11 a.m. with Rev. Eddie Renfro and Rev. Paula Harris officiating. Burial will follow in Spring Hill Cemetery where the Tri-State Burial Group will accord full military honors.

Friends may call at the Wellsville Chapel of the Martin MacLean Altmeyer Funeral Home on Thursday, April 2, 2015 from 4 to 8 p.m.

Betty Beaver, 85

CALCUTTA - Betty Beaver, 85 formerly of Newell, W.Va. passed away on Wednesday, March 25, 2015 at Calcutta Health Care following a brief illness.

She was born in West Union, West Virginia on Nov.7, 1929 a daughter to the late Okey and Vondia (Duty) Underwood. Betty attended Doddridge County High School and worked for K-Mart in the Apparel Division as a sales clerk for 14 years before retiring in 1994. She was a member of Newell United Methodist Church and the Triangle Seniors of Calcutta.

She is survived by four sons: William 'Chuck' Sines of Indiana, Lanny Bruce Sines, whom she resided with of Newell, W.Va., Daniel Shultz of Florida and Timothy Shultz of Homeworth, Ohio; two daughters: Carolyn Tarver of East Liverpool, and Diana Hooper of Wellsville; two brothers: Shelvia Underwood of Youngstown and Larry Joe Underwood of West Virginia; one sister: Phyllis Bosworth of East Liverpool; twenty-one grandchildren, twenty-two great grandchildren and one great great granddaughter.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Victor H. Beaver whom she married Oct. 22, 1970; two sons: David J. Shultz and Victor H. Beaver Jr.; two daughters: Diana Beaver and Linda Rutan; five brothers: Okey, Paul, Eugene, William and Willard Underwood; six sisters: Olive Saltsman, Zula Gatti, Ileen Hughes, Esther Dillon, Helen Gibson and Mary Underwood and one granddaughter.

Services will be held 11 a.m. Monday, March 30, 2015 at the Calcutta Chapel of the Martin MacLean Altmyer Funeral Home with pastor Kara Rowe of the church officiating. Burial will follow in Spring Hill Cemetery.

Family will be present to receive friends 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday, March 29, 2015 at the Calcutta Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Building Fund of the Newell United Methodist Church.

James H. ‘Jim’ McConnell, 65

SOMERSET, Ohio -James H. 'Jim' McConnell, 65, of New Somerset, Ohio, passed away Wednesday, March 25, 2015 in Trinity Med. Center West in Steubenville, Ohio.

Jim was born April 27, 1949 in Steubenville, son of the late Howard and Mildred Yocum McConnell.

He was a lifelong member of the New Somerset Christian Church. Jim was retired from Timet - Titanium Metals Corp., with 37 years of service, in Toronto where he was a millwright working in maintenance repair.

Jim was a lifelong caretaker of the family farm on Yellow Creek.

In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his brother that he picked up along the way, Dan Swartz.

Jim leaves behind his wife, Marsha L. (Gill) McConnell whom he married Nov. 19, 1971; his three sons, Matt of Cleveland, Ohio, Mike (Michelle) of Rew, Pa. and Steve (Erica) of Cortland, Ohio; his two grandchildren who were the light of this life, Katelyn and David; his two other brothers that he picked up along the way, Tom Cattrell and Slim Pieniazek of Yellow Creek. Jim was also a beloved uncle leaving behind three nieces and two nephews.

Visitation for Jim will be held on Sunday, March 29 from 1-3 and 5-7 p.m. at the J.E. Foster Funeral Home in Toronto, Ohio. His funeral service will be held on Monday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Rob Minto officiating. Burial will follow in Ft. Steuben Burial Estates in Wintersville, Ohio.

Thomas E. Dennis, 75

EAST LIVERPOOL - Thomas E. Dennis, lifelong area resident, passed away at East Liverpool City hospital following a lengthy illness, on Friday March 27, 2015.

75 years old, Thomas was born to the late Martin and Helen Halstead Dennis in Chester, W.Va.; on July 27, 1939.

On April 7, 1986 he married the love of his life, Janet Cline Dennis and she survives in East Liverpool where they made their home and raised their family.

In addition to his wife Janet, Thomas leaves his children, Glenn Dennis (Billie Higgins); Thomas Dennis Jr., Michael Dennis both of East Liverpool, and Jerry Wilson (Belinda) of Murray, Ky.; Amy Jo Wilson of Toledo, Ohio; Angela Diagusta (Chris); Helen Stall and Amy Keener all of East Liverpool; brother, Ron Dennis (Pauline) of Florida; and Thomas leaves behind 22 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, John Dennis and sisters, Shirley and Jean Fields.

In fulfilling his wishes no services are planned at this time. Thomas was entrusted in the care of the Arner Funeral Chapel.

EAST LIVERPOOL - Bryce A. Bibbee, 5 passed away suddenly at his home in East Liverpool on Tuesday, March 24, 2015. He was born in Steubenville, Ohio on Jan. 21, 2010 a son to the late Jerry L. and Amanda (Ludwig) Bibbee.

He is survived by his sister: Kylee Beaver of East Liverpool; maternal grandparents: Dan and Penny Ludwig of Calcutta; Paternal step-grandfather: Richard Guy of East Liverpool; Maternal great-grandmother: Grace Ann Foster of Calcutta; Paternal great-grandmother: Penny Hutchison of East Liverpool, and aunt: Emily Ludwig of Calcutta and several cousins and great Aunts and Uncles.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his Aunt and Uncle Meghann and Jamie Nign and paternal grandparents Jerry Bibbee and Melanie Bibbee Guy.

Services will be held at the Calcutta Chapel of the Martin MacLean Altmeyer Funeral Homes on Saturday, March 28, 2015 at 2 p.m. with Pastor Larry Rose officiating. Burial will follow at Columbiana County Memorial Park.

Family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home in Calcutta on Saturday, March 28, 2015 from noon up until the time of the service at 2 p.m.

Charles David Oliver, 69

WHITE LAKE, Mich. - Charles "Dave" Oliver, 69, of White Lake, Mich., passed away Feb. 17, 2015, in St. Petersburg, Fla.

He was born July 2, 1945, in Wadsworth, Ohio, to Leonard V .and Helen P. Oliver.

He was a 1964 graduate of East Liverpool High School, starring in football and basketball, and went on to graduate from Wayne State University in Michigan.

Dave was preceded in death by his father, Leonard V. Oliver, and his brother Leonard L. Oliver.

Survivors include his wife Shirley Cochran Oliver; sons, John David (Coleen) Oliver and Mark Allen Oliver, both of Michigan; his mother, Helen Madden Oliver, of St. Petersburg, Fla.; sisters Ella Marie Oliver (Ed) Janis of Bremen, Ga., and J. Elayne Oliver (Geoff) Lowe of East Liverpool. He is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

The family requests memorial donations be made to the American Cancer Society in memory of Dave.

Marcy Aaron Chestnut, 69

LAKEWOOD PARK, Fla. - Mr. Marcy Aaron Chesnut, 69, of Lakewood Park, Fort Pierce, Florida passed away Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2015 at Munroe Regional Medical Center in Ocala.

Marcy was born in East Liverpool, Ohio and moved to Lakewood Park in 1967 from his place of birth.

He had been a Pipe-Fitter for FPL at the Hutchinson Island Power Plant.

Survivors include son Kenneth Chesnut of Wabasso, Fla.; daughter Candy L. Bornman of Deltona, Fla. and Dean A. Chesnut of Vero Beach, Fla.; grandchildren, Heath C. Chesnut of Wabasso and Mark and Tyler Chesnut of Vero Beach; sister Margaret F. higgins of Lisbon, Ohio; brothers Reginald K. Chesnut of Glenmoor, Ohio and Melvin L. Chesnut, Jr. of Fort Walton, Fla.; half-brother Larry Howl and half-sister Teresa Vereen both of S.C.

He was preceded in death by his parents Melvin L. and Della Wilson Chesnut, and a half-brother C. Kenneth Scate who died in the Vietnam War.

No services are planned at this time.

Robert Arnold

WEST POINT- Robert William Arnold, 86, formerly of state Route 45, passed away at 10:40 p.m., Friday, Feb. 27, 2015 at the Blossom Nursing and Rehabilitation Center following a lengthy illness.

Mr. Arnold was born June 19, 1928 in Empire, Ohio, a son of the late Chase and Evelyn (Foley) Arnold.

He worked as a turning machine operator at the former Crucible Steel Mill in Midland before retiring.

He was a member of the Lisbon Church of the Nazarene.

His wife, Arlene Ann (Fickes) Arnold, preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Evelyn Jayne Arnold Satterfield

Mr. Arnold is survived by his sons, Robert Wayne Arnold and Dennis James Arnold; and his sister, Lois Hall. He also leaves six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 8 p.m., Tuesday, March 3, 2015 at the Eells-Leggett-Stauffer Funeral Home with Pastor Jamey Jackson officiating. Private burial will take place Wednesday morning at the Lisbon Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until the time of services Tuesday at the funeral home.
