Hobbs arrived in Hobart 18/12/1830 aboard the Clyde that had left Portsmouth the previous August.

Here and near Werribee he purchased a number of acres of land for sheep farming. He married Elisabeth McNamara in Melbourne and had 2 sons. Thomas and Patrick George. He died at his home on the Salt Water river in 1851 aged 1856. I am a descendant of John Hobbs one of the sons that Thomas left behind in the UK, now also living in South Australia.
