MCKILLOP: Ballycastle to New Zealand

Great-grandmother Fanny MCKILLOP was born in abt 1860 in Ballycastle, Antrim, Ireland. Her father was probably Archibald MCKILLOP. In 1876 her brother Charles, a settler in Wairarapa, NZ, organised for her to join him and his family. In 1879 she married John MONTGOMERY, a Masterton based building contractor originally from Melbourne (though he had been born in Portadoun, Ireland.

CRIPPS: London horse dealers to pet food manufacturers

My London CRIPPS family were recorded as horse traders in central London from about the 1830's. From census records information they became "purveyors of horse flesh" and later "pet food manufacturers" over several generations, concentrating in the Bermondsey area in and around Long Lane. Up till 1900 or later. I shall keep this information from my sister, who likes to keep her horses on the hoof, live and in the paddock - not portioned into tin cans. Her pet dogs are fed on recently living beef steak.
Anyone out there know anything of my London horsey CRIPPS?

Montgomery of Warrnambool Australia

Was a carpenter and undertaker who arrived Melbourne in about 1858 from Ireland with his wife Alice and children including John born abt 1847 Portadoun.
Probably lived Warnambool. Seems to have had a race horse named Postboy on which the great Tommy Corrigan had his first win, in 1875 at Warrnambool.
John Mongtomery moved on to New Zealand where he settled permantly in about 1875.
