Hi, I'm trying to find the family of my gr-grandfather Sylvester Newton Mitchell born Dec 1860 in Indiana, died May 1937 in St. Joseph, Missouri. He married Ada L. Gentry in 1883 Clay County, Missouri and they had three children: Sylvester Franklin in 1884, Edna Mary/Mary Edna in 1886, and Estell in 1890. Ada died in 1892 around Smithville, Missouri. According to census reports S N states that his parents were born in West Virginia or Pennsylvania, but I can't find any family history. My parents are both gone, but they don't remember anyone ever saying anything about any of SN's family. My uncle recalls hearing that SN had been in a prison in Illinois at some time, but I'm unsure what that time was. I see him in 1900,1910,1920, and 1930 in Missouri, but can't find him before that. Thanks for any help I can get. I've been at this for quite a few years and continue to hit a brick wall!
