My grandfather, John William Scott, married a woman named Maggie J Akers about 1883 in possibly Illinois. She came to the marriage with a young daughter named Cora. I do not know the details of her first marriage nor do I know her maiden name. They married and lived in Illinois, then later moved to Oklahoma. My father, William McKinley Scott born 1897 in Oklahoma, spoke very highly of Cora. He said that she helped her mother, Maggie, a lot with the raising of her children from Maggies second marriage. I have two possible birth sites for Maggie J Akers. One birth site is Virginia and the other birth site is in Missouri. The birth date I have is November 1860. She died in possibly Tumalo, Oregon in 1914. Maggie J Scott is buried in the Redmond Memorial Cemetery in Redmond Oregon. The name on her tombstone reads Maggie J so I assume that is her real first name and not Margaret. Please contact me if you think you might have any information for me. I have hit a stone wall where my grandmother is concerned, nor can I find anything else concerning Cora, her daughter from a first marriage.
