Seek Info on Charles Rowland & earlier Thomas Rowland

Charles Rowland signed on the marriage bond of John Renta Baker and his wife, Susanna Rowland. Wilkes CO., N.C. Sept 1779. She was his only wife. They had several children before they married as they had to receive permission from British Gov. to marry. Susanna was listed as first owner on the Roan's Creek Property that John Renta Baker lived on. Wilkes CO., N.C. John was the noted Long Hunter and the man who saved Col. Cleveland from being hung by the Tories in Old Wilkes.

I worked on this family back in 1960's. My late husband is a gr.gr.gr.son of Adoniram Baker and Nancy Sandlin, d/o Lewis & Sarah Kennedy. I have their picts and several others.

The story on Blankenship was started some yeaars ago before researchers were very good. They said because Sarah signed her name with Sarah B. Sandlin it meant she was a Blankenship. I dont think so. They named their son Kennedy and when the death record surfaced she was a Kennedy. I believe they were in Wilkes NC for a while from York CO SC.
One other major issue is with James Sandlin's wife, Zilphy Baker. Her grandparents are John Renta Baker & Susanna ROWLAND. THERE IS NO SUCH PERSON as Elizabeth Terrill. Old Obadiah Terrill was a club-footed bachelor. These ROWLANDS ARE CONNECTED with the BAKERS early...John's father was Andrew and grandfather was living with
Thomas Rowland in the area. John Baker & Susanna Rowlands marriage bond is signed by Charles Roowland in Wilkes CO N.C.

Zilphy and James Sandlin are buried right next to Robert Julius Bob Baker at Cortland Cemetery in Owsley CO Ky.
