LOOKING FOR CATHARINE VAN VALKENBURGH OF SENECA COUNTY, OHIO 1869

I have the marriage license for my great grandfather, THOMAS JEFFERSON WRIGHT in Tiffin, Ohio. The document is filled out by WILLIAM M. JOHNSON (Judge, Probate court) and signed on May 31, 1969. The marriage was performed on June 3, 1869 by W.H. BROWN, JP. A pencil notation indicates that Catharine was Jeff's first wife. She did not live to see California and Jeff married again.

Jeff Wright, a veteran of the Civil War, moved west, eventually settling in Arroyo Grande, California, where he farmed, died (1906), and is buried marked by a headstone with JEFF WRIGHT, 55th Ohio Volunteers chisled.

He served at Lookout Mountain, was captured, spent time in a rebel prison, escaped(?), and was on the battlefield at Gettysburg after the battle doing burials. These details are from letters he wrote at the time.
