Hello
I'm wondering if you can help me find some more info about John Kemp Lickfold.

Roy Tonkin in Australia has recently been helping me with the family of Mark & Ellen Lickfold who first emigrated to Oz for a few years, then returned to London and then after only about a year emigrated to NZ on The Fernglen in 1876, John Kemp being stated as age 2 in the passenger list. This means he was probably born during their travels. His birth is not registered in the (UK) GRO Indexes and Roy can't find him in Oz.

I gather from Roy that John Kemp Lickfold married into your family in 1913 and they had two children, one of whom was Frederick Mark Lickfold (1914 - 85). Do you know if Frederick Mark had any children or indeed maybe descendants alive now?

I'll be ever so grateful for any help you can give me on this Lickfold family.

With thanks,
Gordon Lickfold

Hi Gordon,
This info below (as taken from the above link at John Kemp Lickfolds name) is all I have been able to find lately:

John "Jack" Kemp LICKFOLD was born about 1872

- he married Elizabeth Emily Greaves on the 4th June 1913

Elizabeth was born on the 23rd Feruary 1889
- she was the 2nd of 12 children of Walter Edward GREAVES & Sarah Ann PITTAMS who were married in Woodville and lived in Mangatainoka the rest of thei lives

In 1918 Jack was listed in the Wairarapa Recruiting District as a Labourer in Managatainkoa

Jack & Elizabeth had 2 known children:
27-3-1914 - Frederick Mark LICKFOLD
- Frederick was a taxi driver in the Wellington areas at least during the 1930s
- he died in 1985

19-9-1916 - Ellen "Nellie" Wilhelmina LICKFOLD
- she died in 1940 of Tuberculosis

- John died on the 2nd August 1940 aged 68
- Elizabeth died in 1963 aged 74 in Woodville

- no details are available for Elizabeth as being buried in Woodville - she may have remarried

- the burial of John Kemp Lickfold is still being researched

It appears that Frederick Mark Lickfold married Jemima BLACK and a Shirley ? as per this family tree:
DESCENDANTS OF PARENTS OF THOMAS GREAVES AND ELIZABETH - OF HINCKLEY, LEICESTERSHIRE, ENGLAND

Hi
Thanks very much for this info. If you find out any more in the future I'd love to hear. The link to the Graves website is interesting. It isn't clear to me who wrote that page and when I tried to contact them via their homepage I didn't get any response. Have you ever tried to contact them? If I could contact the person who researched Frederick Mark Lickfold's marriages, they might know if he has any descendants alive today.
