Welker family in Kentucky

In the 1930 census, my grandparents, Ammon and Manie Welker at living in Eddyville, KY.
There is listed a daughter by the name of Sylvia, who is 17 years old at the time. I am the daughter of Bettie, their youngest daughter, who was born in 1933, three years after the census was taken. In all of my research and enquiries to the Tennessee government archives, I have not found out anything about this young lady. I have one last surviving aunt who just turned 91 in 2013 and she married into the family, but says she knows nothing about her. I have spoken to a couple of people, who still live in Eddyville and went to school with my mother, but no one can tell me anything about her. noggin on 2013-12-15 05:35:17There is another reason she married and then died which means finding the marriage and then the death under new surname. Have you tried using other near spellings of the surname: walker, wilker etc ?
alvgoodyear on 2013-12-15 16:08:59Ammon Welker is my grandfather and Manie (misspelled in the census) was my grandmother who lived with us for many years till she passed away.
I have looked for information many ways.
Sylvia was 14 in the 1930 census and was not in the 1920 census that I can find in KY or TN.
My grandparent were married on 07/09/1912. Gilbert was born first in 1914, then Sylvia in 1916, then Gracie May in 1918. In all the years from my birth in 1951 till Manie's death in 1973, or any of the many times that I was around the family, did I ever hear the name of Sylvia.
Just one of those mysteries in the family that probably will not ever be solved.
I know I saw a 10920 census somewhere, but Sylvia was not listed there.
Also, they lived in Eddyville/Lamasco, KY, Lyon County.

noggin on 2013-12-15 18:23:13THIS MAY MEAN SOMETHING OR NOTHING BUT SYLVIA IS 14 ON THE 1830 CENSUS AND THERE IS NO GILBERT, BUT ON THE 1940 CENSUS THERE IS GILBERT 24 BUT NO SYLVIA.
alvgoodyear on 2013-12-15 19:55:54I will have to write to Jane, Gilbert's youngest daughter, and ask her if she can ask her mother, if she knows why Gilbert wasn't on the 1930 census. He might have been off somewhere working for someone else. I know he and Martha got married in the 1940's.
