SMITH buried CARTERTON, Wairarapa

Journal by ngairedith

Carterton is a small farming area of the Wairarapa in New Zealand's North Island. It is located 14km (8.7 mi) southwest of Masterton and 80km (50 mi) northeast of Wellington

HISTORY & PROFILE of Carterton, Wairarapa (includes a 1910 photo of the main street)
- Carterton was originally known as Three Mile Bush and was founded in 1857 to provide a base for men working on the road between Greytown and Masterton ...
Carterton was named after Charles Rooking CARTER (1822-1896)
It was also the birthplace of Sir Bob Charles, the first left-handed golfer to win a Major, the British Open in 1963.

as at 2011 there are 78 SMITH buried in the Clareville Cemetery in Carterton run by the Carterton District Council .. click link to search for more information like their Burial Sites, Occupations, Address etc (where available)
UPDATE NOTE .. unknown when, but noticed Jan 2018 that the individual links of the burials no longer open for you to check the extra information - wish now I had taken the time to record it in all the Carterton journals I have on this site. You could write to them. Maybe if enough of us do that ??
