Hi there - my partner David ANESBURY is descended from Andrew ANESBURY & Margaret nee BENNETT through their son Charles Edward ANESBURY & his wife Daisy Emma nee BOYD. Their youngest son Colin Roy(dec'd)is David's father.
Have you been in contact with Ralph ANESBURY? I believe he has done some research on the ANESBURY Tree. David is interested in where you fit into this Tree. I have a small Family Tree of this line if you are interested.

Hi there Glenys and David.

Thank you fot your reply to my Anesbury Post. It's always good to hear from other family members for the first time.

Ok David, in reply to you question about where I fit into this tree.

Charles and Daisy's son, James Wilson Anesbury, married Mabel Tonkin in Wallaroo, South Australia in 1929. Mabel was the great granddaughter of my great-great-great grandfather, James Tonkin. James never made it to their wedding ... he died twenty years earlier.

I'm always happy to exchange info with other family members and would be very interested in your small family tree. It takes many links to make a chain, and I'm always looking for more links.

Check your private messages for my contact details.

Regards for now.

According to my grandparents Annie Letitia Anesbury's parents were Joseph Anesbury and Elizabeth Bennett not Andrew and Margaret, can anyone help me ?
I have some details of who she married and their families.

by tonkin on 2011-01-05 00:00:48

Birth.

Ann Letitia AMESBURY was born in Emerald Hill, Victoria in 1865.
Her parents are recorded as Andrew AMESBURY and Margaret Ann BENNETTS.

Birth source: Victorian Birth Index #11817. The name ANESBURY appears as AMESBURY and can make it hard to find.

Marriage.

Ann Letitia AINSBURY married Thomas BROOKS in Belalie, South Australia in 1875. Ann's father is recorded as Andrew AINSBURY.

Marriage Source: South Australian Marriage Index, book 104, page 75.
Once again note the name ANESBURY is recorded as AINSBURY.

Thomas and Ann went on to have nine children in South Australia. The birth records for their children also spell ANESBURY several different ways.

If this sounds like the same Annie Letitia ANESBURY you are looking for it would appear your information is not correct.

I have no idea where the name Joseph and Elizabeth came from and I would suggest you go to the records and confirm your information.

There was a Joseph AMESBURY that died in Victoria in 1874 aged 31 years. Could be he was the brother of Andrew and he may have been married to an Elizabeth BENNETTS, sister of Margaret. If I'm correct it may explain the mix up with the names. I will do some more research and try and sort things out.

Feel free to contact me again if you are still confused.

Thanks for the interesting info, it does sound like the right Annie. I have her date of death as 21 Sep. 1934 and buried in Port Pirie S.A.
I also have her marriage details as 8/Jul. 1875. To Thomas Brooks.

Is there any evidence of this Joseph Amesbury and the posible sister Elizabeth to Margaret ?

I have the parents of Elizabeth as Charles William Bennett and Lilian Mary Bennett, if these are correct does it help ?

I also have Annie's siblings and their parteners as;
George. married Ida ??
Charles. married Daisy ??
Margaret. married Charles Fisher.

I have names of offspring to some of these but no BMD's

My connection to this family is through the Anesbury / Brooks branch

Is there a copy of the Anesbury tree available ?, it would be of great interest to my mother and her surviving cousins as I think I am the only member of my family doing any type of research, they do not know of the diferent spellings of the name, my mother is convinced it is Anesbury.

Any help would be appreciated, once again thanks for the info so far.

Regards Martin

The early ANESBURY clan are a hard lot to follow because of the variations in the spelling of the name and one must work slowly when searching the records. ANESBURY seems to be the correct spelling of the name. Most names do have different variations in the spelling because names were recorded as they were heard by the person recording the event. There were a lot of people unable to read or write in the early days so errors were not corrected.

I have not done any work on the ANESBURY lines for some time so I'm a bit rusty on the subject at the moment. I have contacted several family members in the past and they have assisted me with their own details for the family records, but I still have a lot of work ahead of me. It has now come to the stage where my records can only be completed with the help of present day family members.

Give me a bit of time to study my ANESBURY files to refresh my memory and I will contact you again soon.

I would also be interested in exchanging info with you on the ANESBURY lines should you be interested.

All I have is names no dates. Annie was my great, great grandmother on my mothers side. You may already have them, my grandmother was a Donovan and she married a Hector Donald Ward.
I am really interested in putting these families into my family tree which so far goes back to the late 1400's
Other names I'm currently researching are;
Sutherland
Tulloch
Donovan
Kiesler
Oakland
Payne
These are the main name I'm working on and there are some others.

Sorry I don't have any trees on line. I did once, but other people came along and started adding the wrong information and turned my tree into a weed garden.

If you would like to pass on the names of the other two children of Andrew and Margaret I will search my database and see if I have them.

You can PM me if you wish.
