Looking to find Choate relatives in Ky,with possible ties to the Cherokee of Ky abt 1770/1800. My GGGmother was Eleanor Choate/Shote
brn abt 1800 KY,d,abt 1870 Grundy Co TN. Eleanor left Ky after 1800, and was found in IT of TN abt 1818 where she married GGGfather William B Seitz brn abt 1800 Lincoln Co NC. Eleanor was believed to be full blood Cherokee from the Long Hair Clan.
I know there has to be other Choate descendants who stii live in or around KY. I am in the process of putting a Family Tree together.

Just found out that My GGfather's real name may have been Lewallyn Sweden/Sweeten in Russell/Adair Co's of KY abt 1860,and was changed to Alan/Allen Bond when he joined the Army,as his mother was a Anna Bond brn KY.

His Parents were Frank Riley Choate born July 27, 1897 and he married Elise Jane Choate born June 4, 1902 and died March 5, 1974. My grandmother has told me that my great great grandmother was a full blooded cherokee. I am looking for more information on this subject thank you Thomas Huckaby
neptune217 on 2012-11-19 00:09:21sounds like we are cousins thomas. my dad was clifton ray choate, from monticello, who was the son of frank and elsie. i also had heard, from my dad and his sister lucy, the story of an ancester being raped by a cherokee indian which produced a son(although i could be mistaken). this is where my memory fails...i cant remember how far back that goes nor names. i was wondering myself how to track any and all information i could on this lineage. sadly my dad and aunt lucy have passed and im not close enough to any other family members on this side who can answer any questions. if you find anymore info on it i would love to hear it!
SonnyW51 on 2016-12-08 16:44:36not sure if this can help or is really related but i have a CHOATE in my family tree. her father was thomas CHOATE b. 1843 in illinois and he married a susan SHAMBLISS on 3-15-1865 in pope county illinois, b. 1844 in tennessee. my relative, julia belle CHOATE was b.3-26-1874 in pope county illinois. she married samuel causey DURFEE b.6-7-1873 pope county illinois d.1-19-1924 harrisburg saline county illinois, on 1-18-1893 in pope county illinois. they had 8 children. she d.7-3-1936 in harrisburg saline county illinois. i have her childrens names and dates if you find a connection and would want them. hope you still are looking and read this. a great site!
