COOK of Pungaru, North Island, New Zealand

Journal by phillipstania45

Looking for whanau in Pungaru, I know that there was a TILLY COOK. I would like to find out her real name.Round about the early 1970's she was still alive. My mum was given a whakapapa book from her and some-one had stolen it in the family,it was a red book and had all the old people in it. Now I have to research my whakapapa on my mothers side who was connected to her. Very close connections. We were up at the Kerikeri inlet when my mum last saw her Aunty Tilly. Very sad losing the whakapapa book.

Kia Ora my name is Nalini Cook. I am a descendant of the second whanau from Teotinga Kerikeri. I was wondering if her name was Matilda Cook, which is a whanau name. My grandfather was Lewis Cook of Kerikeri. We are the Cooks from the second whanau. I no my Poppa has cousins in Panguru... A Boxer Cook and his whanau.I am also relayed to the Karena whanau from there too.
So if you are doing whakapapa on my whanau, is it possible if we can do it together if that is alright with you.

That would be nice indeed as I know we have definite connections. I assume that it was Matilda Cook, but wandering also, was her maiden name Edmonds. Kiora Nalini, I am trying to do whakapapa, only because my mother spoke of names of the old people that she knew well. I was only very young when my mum saw aunty Tilly last.I didn't get to meet her and if I did I was very very young at the time. I meet a Jane Cook who we called cookie. She comes of the 4th generation of also the Edmonds whakapapa. If you know of anyone with the Edmonds whakapapa book, you may see some of your whanau in there. I'm only going by memory. I do know that we come of the 5th to my grandfather Pita Edmonds and my grandmother Maureen Edmonds (nee.York)we end up also through to 7th generation. The homestead of Annie Ashby is off Edmonds Rd I guess in Kerikeri. I remember that she had many photos on her wall, but wither the photos are there now I am not sure of. I would like to meet all the whanau related to me on my mums side as some of my whanau are marrying whanau back up north. Although some maybe distant. I also am doing this for my mokos. Originally I am Te Arawa and then Ngapuhi. But I remember only that name that my mum spoke of was aunty Tilly, she loved her just as much as much as anyone else. It's sad that the whakapapa book was taken, as it wasn't given to anyone else but my mum. My mother Maryanne Molly Edmonds has been deceased for 26 years now and my children want to know of her side of the family.Thankyou for responding to my search.By all means do correspond with me.

His name is Pita Pou. If anyone has got any info at all concerning my grandmother, I would very much appreciate it. Thank you to all.

Hi There I'm Paula McRae and on my Grandmothers side Rare McCaskill McRae theirs a Grt grt Aunt Ani Kuku is also Cook when our Dad died there was a minister surname Cook who officiated Dads funeral. When dad was alive he spoke vividly of names Taru Tapua and spoke highly of the Cool whanau.
