I see that there was a George Kinsela in the 1904 NSW PO Directory at Goulburn.

A James Frederick Kinsela from Goulburn served in WW1 and sadly he was killed in action in March 1918. His records can be found at the National Archives of Australia. His next of kin was his father, William Guilford Kinsela, Denison Street, Goulburn, New South Wales.

Here are some records with Goulburn.

A William Guilford Kinsela was born at Queanbeyan NSW in 1867 and there was a marriage for a William G Kinsela to a Esther T Warburton registered at Goulburn in 1894.

There was a death for a Esther T Kinsela registered at Goulburn in 1898 and a marriage again for a William G Kinsela to a Evangeline Olsen registered at Goulburn in 1902.

There is a death registration for a William G Kinsela in 1929 registered at Goulburn.

There are births as well.

If you search the old newspapers on Trove at you will find an article "Death of an Old Identity. FIRST WHITE CHILD AT CANBERRA" in the Queanbeyan Age (NSW : 1907 - 1915) Friday 6 February 1914 on page 1 there is a nice article about William's father who was born at what is now Canberra. It mentions William being employed by Goublburn branch of Wright Heaton & Company and there is a mention made of G D Kinsela who was also at Goulburn.

goto http://trove.nla.gov.au/newspaper?q= and do various searches for Kinsela, I sometimes put inverted commas around a name eg; "William Kinsela" There are many references to the surname kinsela in various newspapers, you can sort by various mean.

Harry and Daphne Kinsela are my grandparents, I beleive George and Bridget were Harry's parents. If you have any info on them or Bridget and George ancestry would be very much appreciated as there are no living relatives to ask

Elizabeth D is Elizabeth Daisy, she married Austin A Rowe at Goulburn in 1926 and her death is registered at St.Leonards in 1969.
Bridget Maud Scott was the daughter of John Alexander Scott and Annie Burnett.
Daphne Pearl Cook was born in Goulburn in 4 March 1917 married Harold James Kinsela on the 26 December 1937 and died at the Goulburn Hospital on the 20 November 1989.

banjo1 (aka Ted) has lots of information on this family. My grandmother was Mary Ann Bale, her mother was Jane Kinsela who was the daughter of James Kinsela and Jane Anne Dudley, James was the son of Patrick at that is as far as I know. Now James Kinsela and Jane Anne Dudley were 1st cousins. Now from the responses you will see the names Dudley and Guildford commonly used in middle names. This is from William Guildford Dudley who I don't believe left Cork (deceased) but his wife Elizabeth Mehegan brought out children including Jane who married Patrick. Now Elizabeth's sister was Jane Mehegan mother of Patrick Kinsela. I believe there were at least 4 of William Guildford Dudley to have Guildford (or a mispelled variation) as there middle name being Henry Guildford Bale listed as Harry Bale killed Gallipoli, William Guildford Dudley died at 3, William Guildford Nugent and lastly William Guildford Kinsela.

G'day. There may be a little bit of confusion here.

Jane Mehegan born 1806 Ireland was the daughter of Daniel and Mary Mehegan. She arrived Via "The Duchess of Northumberland 1835, as a free single woman under the name of Jane Wigmore.
She married Patrick Kinsela 6th Feb 1838. Patrick was killed 23rd Feb 1841. Jane then married William Hunt.

Jane (1) and Patrick had two children, James born 11th Dec 1838 and Margaret 1840. Margaret married Patrick White.

James Kinsela married his first cousin Jane(2)Anne Dudley who was the daughter of Jane's(1)sister Eliza and William Guildford Dudley, on the 4th July 1863. From memory she arrived in colony 1854.

They had they had heaps of children including Jane(3)Ann.

Jane(3)Ann married Samuel Hammond Bale on 23rd Feb 1886.
They also had heaps of children including Mary Ann, Samuel jnr, Henry Guidford, known as Harry, who was killed at Gallipoli, and my wife's grandfather William George Bale.

Patrick Kinsela is proving hard to track down. He claims to be a free man but so far we have not found any evidence to that effect. He could be the same man who arrived as a convict on the Dorothy 1827. This man could read and write.

Either way he was appointed the first Chief Constable of Queanbeyan district in 1836. His marriage cert indictates that he could not write his name and used a mark, yet only a few weeks later he is conducting correspondane with the Colonial Sec. office. Later he was appointed to other admin posts. He also made the arrest of a nasty bushranger Gipsy Clarke. As you know different name spelling are the bane of family researchers yet every document I have seen with Patrick's signature is consistent and shows a strong clear hand.

Had he still been alive Patrick may have had to arrest his son James!!
James spent at least three terms in prison. His photo is still on prison records dated 7th June 1881 ref 4899/81

Jane(1) Mehegan/Wigmore/Kinsela/Hunt is written up in Queanbeyan history as a true pioneer of the district.
