Hit a Wall

Journal by jshall8

Hi to anyone reading.

I live in Perth in Western Australia. Have just recently started the search for my ancestry. I have reached as far as great grandad, but alas our family weren't ones for communicating or keeping records. I have hit a wall. So if anyone else is searching for a Thomas Hall who lived in Westonia ur not alone. I know he is english and was a miner thats round about it :(

It was going well up till then haha.
Ohwell back to searching.
Anyone else in Perth feel free to contact me.

Hi,
A Thomas Hall does get a mention in some WA electoral Rolls and Directories but he might not be your Thomas. A bit more information would be good like what years are you looking at, wife's name, was there a middle name etc.

Regards

Gerry

Hi Gerry

Unfortunatley no middle name. His wife's name is 'Alice Maud'. He was born in 1864 and died in 1923.

Its great to hear from you would be a massive help if this comes through. Do you think that maybe you could send me the link for this as I would be able to search some other names aswell.
Again much appreciated

Josh,
Some info.

Hard to identify exactly George Hall on the Electoral Rolls because the name appears a number of times but Westonia is in the District of Kalgoorlie and Sub District of Yilgarn and there is an entry for 1916.

1916 Electoral Roll
Western Australia, Kalgoorlie, Yilgarn.
Hall George, No 7 pumping station, labourer.

No Alice Maud Hall at this address.

The first time I see Alice Maud Hall is in the 1925 Electoral Roll.
Western Australia, Kalgoorlie, Yilgarn.
Hall Alice Maud, Sheelite St, Westonia, married.

No George Hall at this address.

Hi there,

Thomas Hall died on 15 November 1923, he was 59
- he is buried in:
GRAVESITE 00441 - SECTION KC - AREA: ANGLICAN at Karrakatta Cemetery
- he had been living in WESTONIA a small town located in the Eastern Wheatbelt region of Western Australia, 315km East of Perth via Northam

there is no Alice Maud Hall buried in the Perth areas although a few Alice Hall
Would need to know her birth or death date

Josh,

Further to my last for some reason I looked for George Hall instead of Thomas, and while the information for George is ok I can't see any Electoral Roll information for Thomas Hall in the Sub District of Yilgarn. The information for Alice is ok.

Wow guys this is an overwhelming response Thankyou all.

Ngiaredith. We had already tracked him down to said cemetary and found that his plot had been tacken out and replaced. And yes I was just about to turn my attention to alice seeing as I was having such a hard time with Thomas. But thankyou very much for the info it is very much appreciated.

Aussie1947. This is great news sounds fairly promising Im sure it will be very helpful. Its a pity Thomas wasn't on there, he musn't of been registered, this would help with the theory of him being an immigrant.

Again thankyou all so much very exciting to know you guys and that your so willing to help.

Sorry my mistake Thomas Hall would have been dead two years in 1925.
