Hi Jan,
Great to communicate. Yes, this most of what I have other than -
Charles VERRY b 26/4/1818 Sherborne St John England. d 1/6/1864 Wakefield Nelson NZ - if he was 45 years old when he drowned, even the dates I have are not quite correct.
Thomas William VERRY is as above.
There was a suggestion that Arthur VERRY but I don't believe so.

The "COLONIST" reported on 7 June 1864:
.. DEATH BY DROWNING - On Sunday last, June 5, the body of Charles Verry, of Wakefield, was found in the Wai-iti river by Mr W. Ratt. The deceased was a farmer of the district and about 45 years of age. From the evidence of Dr. Oldham it appears that the body must have been three or four days in the river. There were no marks of violence to be discovered and the verdict returned was that the deceased died by drowning. He had been under treatment for disease of the brain for nine or ten months previously. It is supposed that the deceased wandered into the water and having fallen was unable to recover himself

From the NELSON EVENING MAIL 1 June 1880:
VERRY - June 1, at Wakefield, Rhoda Ann, relict of the late Charles Verry, aged 53 years (not verified she was this Charles's wife)

Thanks Ngaire - very interesting article. Have also worked through these cemetery records of which most I have - visited the Cemetery at Pahiatua and photographed most some years ago. Looking forward to meeting up sometime soon.
