Joshua Stewart PA to Illinois

Query by mick0746

This is a "brick wall". Joshua Stewart was born abt 1810 in Franklin County, Pennsylvania. He married Mary Jones 11 Feb 1841. She was born in Franklin Co, PA as well in abt 1811.
The have 6 children.
John Wesley, born 18 Dec 1841 in Franklin Co, PA.
Mary Elizabeth,(Lizzie), born 25 Aug 1843, Franklin Co.
Ellen Jane, born 19 Sep 1845, Franklin Co, PA.
Susan Caroline, born 8 Nov 1849, Franklin Co, PA.
Sarah Amanda, (my great grandmother),born 31 May 1852, Franklin Co, PA.
Thomas Rush, born 27 Jan 1855, Franklin Co.

A couple of (brick walls here). Joshua, Mary & family move to Henry County, Illinois between 1850 and 1860. They are in the 1860 Census in Wethersfield Twp, Henry County, Illinois. In 1870 they are gone. Wethersfield is on the eastern edge of Henry County. The children appear in the 1870 Census in the south west section of Weller Township. Henry County living on different farms. The parents are no where to be found. I think maybe Joshua and Mary died by 1870 but I have no death or burial information. I also can't figure out why the kids are that far from where they were living in 1860. I think the family moved to Weller Township after 1860. Don't know how to prove that. They didn't own any land so nothing to check there.

Some things I want to check: Church membership in the area where they were living. Marriage record of Mary Elizabeth, who was married in Weller Township in 1867. Maybe there are parents on the license #. There is a cemetery near where the kids are living on the 1875 plat map which I think is now gone. I'm going check the funeral home in the nearest towns for burial records.

Another "brick wall" is John Wesley Stewart. Joshua and Mary's oldest son. In the 1860 census he is with the family in Wethersfield Township and in 1870 there is a J. W. Stewart working on a farm in Galva Township, Henry County, Illinois. He is a few miles east of the other Stewart children but I have no proof it is the same as our Stewart. He then disappears and I have never found any trace of him. He was supposed to have moved to Nebraska, married(no wife's name) and had 3 children. Alec, Ella and Elmer. I have a death date of 27 April 1927 and died in Beatrice, Nebraska. I have records of 2 other Stewart children moving there as well. No proof of John Wesley anywhere in Nebraska, Iowa or Kansas.

That's my Stewart story. I hope I can find an other family member to fill in the blanks.

Thanks
Steve
