A 21 year old orchardist prior to enlistment on 2 April 1915, he embarked for overseas with the Transport Section from Sydney on 6 July 1915 aboard SS Hobart. While serving on the Western Front, he was promoted to Temporary Corporal on 6 January 1917 and then accidentally killed in a railway accident on 14 February 1917. He is buried in the Bois Guillaume Communal Cemetery, Rouen, France.

- born in Melbourne in 1885 to Charles Myles OFFICER (1827-1904) & his 2nd wife, Ellen Agnes BESNARD (his 1st wife was Christina Susanna Robertson 1834-1875). He was the 16th of a total of 17 children. His father, Charles Myles Officer, (3rd son of Sir Robert Officer) ran Mt Talbot with his brother Suetonius Officer, a run of 100 square miles. They bought Mt Talbot in 1859. This is where Geoffrey got his second name. Geoffrey was a Farmer

He was later found at Gefangenenlager, Soltau and sent to England. A cousin, Driver R. A. Officer also served. Geoffrey was finally officially reported in Dec 1917 as having been killed in action in April

* from the site Avondale Heights Football Club ... He was badly wounded in action with the 37th Infantry Battalion of the 3rd Division of the AIF, during a trench raid in France on the night of 29 January 1917, when he was struck in the groin by German machine gun fire. He was lying in a shell hole, and was too badly wounded to be carried back to the Australian lines. The entire stretcher party that had gone to retrieve him were shot down before they could reach the shell-hole; and, by the time a patrolling party could reach the site, Parker was no longer there. He was taken prisoner by the Germans, and was admitted to the Bavarian Field Hospital, Lambersart, Lille, France. He died of his wounds in the German hospital the next day
