Looking for Andrew Cole's father in Grenadier Gaurds 1840s

Andrew Cole jnr was my Grt Grandfather born in London in 1834
1834.Joined Army aged 16 and came to New Zealand with the 65th regt.
65th regt.Married Bertha Jordan in New Plymouth 1856 and they had
had 12 children. My grandmother was no.10 Ada who married
George Cosbrook 1892.I have researched the family as a
whole and George in particular but cannot get further on
Andrew's father,also Andrew. He was stationed in Canada
in 1841 census and although I have searched Army records
there is no record of his enlistment or his birthplace. I
think all Cosbrooks in New Zealand are from George and
Ada so if anyone else is researching the whole family
maybe we can help each other.

It would ssem that we share a great grandfather as George Herod King Cole, one of Andrew Cole's sons, was in fact my grandfather. GHK Cole arrived in RSA during the Boer War, married an "Afrikaaner" and remained here. I have managed to research the family in greater depth from that point onwards but would really appreciate hearing any information that you may have regarding this family.

I was in contact with your branch then and got a little of your line.I can certainly help you with all the other lines and a lot of Andrews wifes line Just no further with Andrew himself. I belong to Genesreunited and have recently been contacted by soneone searching in England for information on your line. Trust that you're home safe and sound after your holiday - our family is really looking forward to hearing from you. I'm not certain what information you have so have not done too much on my side at the moment. Have tried to trace my father's parents but have so little information to go on that I'm never certain that the persons that I have traced are actually family or not! Also not certain as to how to go about researching so will visit the SA Archives in the next week or two.

My mother's uncle was Sgt Andrew Cosbrook, who was KIA in 1918 and is buried in Grevilliers cemetery near Baupaume. My mother (who is 83)has often talked of Ada and I would be happy to put you in touch if it would be helpful

lanicole on 2014-02-04 03:13:11Hello. I come from Andrew Cole and Bertha Jordan's first son Rupert Cole who had a son Called Andrew who was my granddad's granddad.
lanicole on 2014-02-04 03:29:50Andrew was born in Lamberth, surrey in october 1832. He was 19 when he enlisted with the 65th foot regiment. on the 14th august 1852 he sailed on the ship "true briton" from Deal, Kent, for wellington NZ they arrived on 18th december 1852. His regiment number was 2821. Andrew was stationed in New Plymouth where he met and married Bertha Jordan on the 16th September 1856. Andrew was 24 and held the rank corporal.

George Herod King - 1875
Frank James - 1877 - died along with Bertha after birth.
Andrew married again in 1880 Mary Jane Jenkins the had
William - 1880
Grace Darling - 1881 died 1882
Mary Anne died in 1905 and Andrew 2 and a half years later. He was buried in Te Henui cemetery with his first and second wives.

I have your Fathers Grandfathers birthdate and death date and who he marrird. Also that they married in 1920. But that is all I have on his line. Can you fill me in on the children and anything about them. e.g. where thry lived and died or were buried.I have all the children of Rupert William 1860-1914 and who they married but am lacking a lot of detail.If you cant do all this dont worry I am just so excited to hear from another 'Cole" descendant that I have asked a way too many questions.
